The site is located on land at Barry Waterfront; about 10 minutes walk from the main centre of Barry and close to the local shopping amenities.  It forms part of a much larger development of apartments developed by Redrow Homes.  As part of the section 106 planning gain agreement Newydd Housing Association took ownership of 29 homes in a mix of 16 x 1 bed flats, and 13 houses.  The architects were CFW from Cardiff.

This is a scheme of high quality, and one which effectively represents mixed tenure at its best.  The quality of the affordable housing is indistinguishable from the private sector apartments; some of the town houses are even provided with integral garages!  The project is a good example of what can be achieved by working collaboratively alongside any private developer.  The project recently received the Local Authority’s endorsement as a recipient of a “Highly Commended” accolade presented at the Building Control awards for the Vale in January 2007.
